STRIKER Padraig Amond has been recognised for his contribution to Newport County’s Leasing.com Trophy third round victory over MK Dons.

The Irishman scored the Exiles’ second with a stunning free-kick at Rodney Parade, and it was his header that led to Dons’ Matt Sorinola finding the back of his own net to make it 3-0.

Amond’s performance, one which led to County landing a home quarter-final against Leicester City U21s next Tuesday, was good enough to see him shortlisted for the player of the round.

He is joined on the list of nominees by Scunthorpe United’s Kevin Van Veen, Danny Lloyd of Salford City, Accrington Stanley’s Joe Bursik and Stevenage’s Craig Mackail-Smith.

County fans have the opportunity to give Amond their backing and every fan who votes for their favourite player will be in with a chance of winning some fantastic signed merchandise.

Fans have until midnight tonight (Tuesday, January 14) to register their votes at efl.com/leasingcomtrophy
