NEWPORT County AFC striker Ade Azeez has joined National League side Torquay United on loan for the remainder of the season.

Azeez has scored once in 15 appearances for County since joining from Cambridge United in January 2019.

The 26-year-old has missed the whole of the current campaign after rupturing his Achilles during pre-season.

Manager Michael Flynn said: “This move will give Ade a great opportunity to go and play regular football.

“Ade has been out for a long time and playing regularly will help him get his confidence back.

“I wish him and Torquay all the best until the end of the season."

South Wales Argus:

Speaking about a potential loan move for Azeez last week, the Exiles boss added: “He’s come back and he’s in very good condition.

“He’s always looked after himself, there’s not an ounce of fat on him.

“He works hard and he’s no trouble. He just needs to play games. I’ve had an open and honest conversation with him.

“And, fair play to him, he’s somebody who doesn’t want to just collect his wages – he wants to go and play football.

“He’s got a chance now to go out and get some confidence, by scoring goals and by proving he’s fully over his injury.

“I think, if we can get him out until the end of the season it will be a big boost for him.”
