NEWPORT County AFC are urging fans to pack Rodney Parade for next week’s Leasing.com Trophy semi-final, with tickets just £5 for adults and £1 for kids.

County host League Two rivals Salford City next Wednesday night (kick-off 7.45pm) in a one-off semi-final with a place in the final at Wembley at stake.

This tie, which will be shown live on Sky Sports, must be settled on the night and will go straight to penalties if the scores are level after 90 minutes.

If the Exiles progress to the final on April 5 it will be their fifth trip to English football’s headquarters in eight years.

The late Justin Edinburgh led the club to the FA Trophy final against York City in 2012 and the Conference play-off final a year later, securing promotion with victory over Wrexham.

And Michael Flynn’s men could make it to Wembley for a third successive season after their FA Cup replay with Tottenham Hotspur in 2018 and last year’s League Two play-off final against Tranmere Rovers.

South Wales Argus:

County head to Mansfield Town in League Two tomorrow, but Jamille Matt is excited by what the Salford match could mean to the club and the supporters.

“I don’t like to look too far ahead, so Mansfield is my focus at the minute, but it would be massive for the fans to go to Wembley again,” said the striker.

“It would be the third time in three years and that would be a massive achievement for the club if we were able to do it.

“Every time you get the chance to play at Wembley and to play for a trophy, it’s massive.

“When you look back at your career when you finish, you want to look back on titles you’ve won, promotions and trophies and accolades like that.

“It would be great to get there again and try to win a trophy for the club.”

Tickets cost £5 for adults and just £1 for under-16s for all areas of the ground.

They are available online at newport-county.co.uk and over the phone on 01633 264572 or from the Kingsway club shop from 9.30am to 4.30pm during the week and 10am to 5pm on Saturday.
